A unique history of ownership by three friends at three different times.
Our Unique Story
Three friends worked at a large glass company during the early 1990s in Schenectady, NY.
Over the next two decades, each friend owned Turnpike Glass and grew it into one of the Capital District’s largest glass companies.
The first owner.
Walt Hyson started Turnpike Glass in 2001. He purchased a small 2-bay Ambulance Corp building in Delanson, NY. As business grew, he expanded the building to increase the size of the shop. Sadly, six years later, Walt was diagnosed with a terminal illness.
The second owner.
Scott Davignon bought the building and business in 2007 from his friend Walt. Scott grew the business for thirteen years, and created a solid reputation for Turnpike Glass.
The third owner.
Wanting to retire, Scott sold the business to another friend, and current owner, Jim Marx on April 1st, 2020. Jim added closet shelving to the business and renamed it to Turnpike Glass & Closet Solutions LLC.
Essential business.
At the start of COVID, being an essential business, the shop remained open and business prospered.
Assemble the team.
In May of 2020, Jim’s son Ryan joined the business. Soon after, they hired another installer, and added a receptionist. Currently, Turnpike Glass has 8 full time employees.
A bright future.
In December 2022, Jim relocated Turnpike Glass to a larger facility in Rotterdam, NY.
Within three years, three more glass trucks were added along with an industrial metal cutting saw and metal punch to help build and fabricate storefronts.
Working with you.
We pride ourselves in customer satisfaction with a seamless process, from design through installation. We look forward to working with you and bringing your vision to reality.
Thank you for being part of our history and our future.
